The strange thing is, that the results are different when changing the
filter...
cn=* gives more reuslts then sn=* :(
but that seams not possible...
because the 'debug' shows that cn and sn are the same....

Well I don't know the exact mechanism by which the page control works,
so my gut inclination would be to remove it entirely, at least to rule
it out as an issue.
The only other thing that occurs to me is to wonder if the account
you're using actually has permission to read all elements?
You might be able to get a better idea of that by seeing what another
tool does---what, for instance, does ldapsearch do when you hand it
the equivalent query?
