I am sorry about that but OS390-Stdio-0.007 is still broken
with perl 5.8.0.

I have to change the C types of some internal variables so
that OS390::Stdio will work with the new "PerlIO" interface
to files that is internal to perl 5.8.0. At this time if you have an
immediate need to run perl + OS390::Stdio the best I can do
is recommend that you try the OS390::Stdio extension with
perl 5.6.1 rather than with perl 5.8.0.

I will be posting announcements of the update when it
becomes available, but I must warn you that it could take
a rather long time for me to fix it.

Hello to everybody,

i am a beginner with perl.
I tried to install OS390-Stdio-0.007 on our Mainframe working with z/OS
1.2.. and staticly bound Perl 5.8.0. But there are some promblems:
1) "make" returns following result:
c89 -c -DMAXSIG=38 -DOEMVS -D_OE_SOCKETS -D_XOPEN_SOURCE_EXTENDED
-D_ALL_SOURCE -DYYDYNAMIC -W 0,float\(ieee\) -DVERSION=\"0.007\"
-DXS_VERSION=\"0.007\
" -W 0,dll "-I/web/apps/uerz/perl/lib/5.8.0/os390/CORE" -D_EXT Stdio.c
WARNING CBC3068 ./Stdio.c:678 Operation between types "struct _PerlIO**"
and "struct __ffile*" is not allowed.
WARNING CBC3068 ./Stdio.c:679 Operation between types "struct _PerlIO**"
and "struct __ffile*" is not allowed.
WARNING CBC3068 ./Stdio.c:1182 Operation between types "struct __ffile*"
and "struct _PerlIO**" is not allowed.
WARNING CBC3068 ./Stdio.c:1342 Operation between types "struct __ffile*"
and "struct _PerlIO**" is not allowed.
FSUM3065 The COMPILE step ended with return code 4.

2) I ignored the warnings and started with "make perl" which showed no
errors. But the following "make test" produced the output:
.....
ok 99
ok 100
ok 101
CEE3204S The system detected a protection exception (System Completion

...
From entry point Perl_PerlIO_fileno at compile unit offset

 entry offset +6522ADC0 at address
         7FFFF000.
FSUM8226 make: Error code 139

Here I stopped working. Can anyone explain what I have done wrong?

thanks for any help.
Manfred
