Many of the tests are written so that no non-ASCII platform could succeed, so that its failing them badly is not indicative of how well it really works.
Perl now will compile and run on z/OS, requiring a couple of
work-arounds to do so. It fails our tests massively, and there are
clearly a number of things wrong. But I believe it is basically working
except for Unicode and /i regular expression matching. John and I are
continuing to plug away at it.
