Any platform without $Config{d_fork} will fail!
from perlport:
fork Not implemented. (Mac OS, AmigaOS, RISC OS, VOS, VM/ESA, VMS)
VOS and VMS are actively supported, and I know there are custum build Win32
perls without fork().
This worries me!
