Hi all,
I'd like to thank all of the people that answered.
Basically, the answers were:
1. http://unxutils.sourceforge.net/
2. http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/
3. http://www.tugzip.com/
4. cygwin
(1) is a very old project and hasn't been updated for a long time. I
didn't try it.
(2) is updated, but when I tried the "tar" package, it croaked on a
missing DLL that isn't mentioned anywhere on the site, including the
installation instructions.
(3) worked.
(4) I don't like cygwin :)
I should be happy (I have a solution that works), but I'm not - can it
be that the only native (I don't consider cygwin "native") working
solution for a Windows "tar" a freeware one? I fully expected someone
to come up with a Perl script, I'm surprised no one did. I will
investigate this further and report if I find anything...
Thanks again everyone for your help!
Regards,
