Path to what program ?  If Perl is in your path, you don't need that path,
but you'll always need the path to the script.  On UNIX, you can always
use the 'perl' rather than leave it off too, so that shouldn't be an issue.

Who knows what lurks in the minds of those Redmond nerds ?  It's probably
been discussed here before, but I don't remember any illuminations on the
why part.
