the NT OS, Service Packs, and most Microsoft Software have options/switches
for silent installations and configurations. If you still can't do it using
their methods, I recommend a FREE program called AutoIT. It's a scripting
language for operating with Win32 GUIs.. Lets you send click, characters,
etc... Very powerful, also produces stand-alone executables. Make sure you
get the AutoIT Script Editor as well.. This is powerful stuff (both are
free).

You might want to look at the Microsoft Windows Script Host (which you can
get for free from the MS site, if you don't already have it.) The intent is
that it will take the place of batch files. It includes the ability to
interact with other programs. The languages supported there are vb script
and java script. ActiveState provides a product (last time I checked you
pay for it) which is supposed to be a perl script version of this.
I believe there is also a new module being written intended to 'test'
windows programs. Since that involves interaction it might work for you as
well. You will have to search CPAN as I can't remember the name.
