i find it ugly.

stealing the markers from perl 6's test suite compiler directives, and
using lower case and full english words, i suggest:

#?if(foo|bar) ...
#?else if(baz) ...
#?else ...
#?unless(quux) ...

Okay, also fine.
With or without the ending double-colon?
