No, I'm pretty sure I meant what I wrote. But if x coerced $item into a list (treated it as a list of one item), then that would work too.

And we could still have ~x as a shorthand for that specific case since it would likely be used often enough.

Well, if we think it warrants it. About the only P5 operator I use less than x are the bitwise ones, and the '...' operator. And maybe modulus.

If I only had the one replication operator to remember, I think I'd prefer it. But I'm happy with whatever Larry decides.
