Kevin - You can be reassured that this is not a drugstore beetle (*Stegobium*). However it does look like one of the dermestids, which can be just as troublesome. From the photos I can't decide whether it's a *Trogoderma*, *Attagenus *or perhaps *Anthrenocerus*. (Not sure whether the last one has reached North America yet.) I'm sure you can find someone in NY to have a look at it for you and tell you exactly what it is - then we can suggest where it might be breeding. Of course if it is the only one (and even pests accidentally enter clean buildings) then hopefully you have no problem. Best wishes Tony
