Hi Tony, Thanks for the feedback, and helping me to point me in the right direction. So far there has just been one seen, but I am checking daily for new developments, as it is right near a storage room that can be a little hard, but it is also relatively close to one of our exhibitions. It was found on one of the glue boards that I have in a wall cavity. I am trying to see if our pest control provider can give us more precise information regarding its identification, but they can be slow at identifying as they don’t understand the urgency for a museum. Thanks again!

However it does look like one of the dermestids, which can be just as troublesome. From the photos I can't decide whether it's a Trogoderma, Attagenus or perhaps Anthrenocerus. (Not sure whether the last one has reached North America yet.) I'm sure you can find someone in NY to have a look at it for you and tell you exactly what it is - then we can suggest where it might be breeding. Of course if it is the only one (and even pests accidentally enter clean buildings) then hopefully you have no problem. I attached some pictures to this email of what I think may be a drug store beetle, and I just wanted to get some more opinions both on the ID and the level of danger to our collection (I have it in my list of possible dangerous insects) This was a lone straggler, or so it appears right now since there is no other sightings and no evidence of infestation.
