Dear all I completely agree with all that is mentioned but one of the other things is to see what the pest population is over a period of time so you can understand what is ‘normal’ and when things change (good or bad) then you might want to ‘zone in’ When testing a new area, I have a standard for a store or gallery which is then ‘enhanced’ in a new area but this data does not go on the primary database as this will distort the data. We also put pheromone sticky monitors (AF), cut in half, in blunder (BL floor) traps in some areas which we call blunder/pheromone (BF)as these sometimes are useful as they are a hybrid, attracting Webbing clothes moth and Monopsis and insects just walking onto them Adie

I understand the complexity of the issue, and appreciate the ideas on how to organize and restructure. At the moment it is just me checking traps, and in most areas there has been zero to very little pest activity, but other areas have fairly regular moderate activity. My main takeaway is that when activity is spotted, instead of 'spamming' the area with more blunder traps, a better action plan is to utilize pheromone traps. I watched the Stressed about Pests presentation you gave, Pat, from 2014, and see how beneficial that system can be. I think pheromone traps will be a great asset for us, it's just a matter of getting everyone on board. Until then, we are revamping our data input spreadsheet, and I will take advantage of that with a trap layout overhaul. Thank you again for the information. Could anyone point me to a good reference to learn about best practices for how many traps to lay out in areas of certain sizes, with certain collections, with certain histories of pests? In my attempts to unify our IPM system, I'm running into areas with tons of traps (60+) and areas with sparse traps. I know the mentality of some is an avoidance of pheromone traps, which then means needing to 'spam' areas with blunder traps so you know what's there. I would love to find some references that can show the best balance of pheromone and blunder traps together, and what concentration is optimal. I looked through muesumpests.net<http://muesumpests.net>, but didn't see reference to this in particular. Another article/book/or professional experience would be much appreciated. Cheers!
