Through regular IPM checks we discovered that we had an odd beetle problem in our old building. When we moved 20 years ago, we were very careful to isolate and freeze infested collections, including freezing entire packed cabinets in our walk in freezer. We weren't so careful isolating and freezing supplies and equipment. We moved some odd beetles to our new building in lab materials. As a result, we have had a low level odd beetle infestation centered on our biology lab ever since. We have strict isolation protocols for the lab--nothing leaves the lab without freezing. We are lucky that odd beetles are slow eaters and slow breeders so they have not caused much damage. I check traps twice a month and map their spread. It has informed regular, targeted pesticide application in areas where we anticipate they will pop up. My advice: freeze or treat everything from problem areas! You can download the book we wrote about the move for free: https://www.smm.org/collections/moving Best of luck to you! Rebecca
