The Scolytinae were once in their own family, Scolytidae, but molecular studies
allied them with the snout beetles (weevils). No, they don’t have an elongated
snout.

Louis,

Ambrosia beetle that´s sounds better! Maybe some (show) fire-wood around?

For a weevil, there is no typically trunk

Looks like a scolytine curculionid, bark and Ambrosia beetle.

EXTERNAL SENDER

Hello, Pestlist

We would greatly appreciate some help identifying this beetle. To me it looks
wood boring (powderpost/false powderpost?) and we are quite concerned. Help
with ID will be much appreciated. It is 4mm long.

Thank you!
