Hi Alexandra,

The moth is an outdoor moth that has been attracted to the light. I am not
sure what the beetles are.

Your post is a reminder to all of us. It is best not to place lights directly
adjacent to the doors (or other openings) into collection spaces. They will
draw insects.

You are doing the right thing by increasing your monitoring. Also make sure
that the seals around the doors and the door sweeps remain in good condition.

Good Luck!
Gretchen

Hello,

Earlier this year a new safety light was installed near an exterior door of my
collection storage office building. This has obviously increased the number of
bugs and insects around the door. I haven't seen much intrusion beyond the
doorway, but I want to make sure that with the increased insect traffic around
the door that I am responding properly to any heightened risks, if any (i.e.
add lure traps near the interior door, etc.). We are located in western South
Dakota, USA.

I've attached two photos. The moth looks like a painted lichen moth, and in the
beetle photo one looks like a type of weevil. Any recommendations for
additional trapping needs/methods is appreciated. (Apologies for the image
quality).

Thank you!
