Hi Alexandra,

That moth looks to me like a scarlet-winged lichen moth. They live outdoors and
eat lichen. Beautiful!

Best,
Isabel

Hi Alexandra,

The second pic is of some type of Weevil (insect with long snout) and the one
on top looks like a Big Eyed Bug in the family Geocoridae. Hope this helps.

Hello,

Earlier this year a new safety light was installed near an exterior door of my
collection storage office building. This has obviously increased the number of
bugs and insects around the door. I haven't seen much intrusion beyond the
doorway, but I want to make sure that with the increased insect traffic around
the door that I am responding properly to any heightened risks, if any (i.e.
add lure traps near the interior door, etc.). We are located in western South
Dakota, USA.

I've attached two photos. The moth looks like a painted lichen moth, and in the
beetle photo one looks like a type of weevil. Any recommendations for
additional trapping needs/methods is appreciated. (Apologies for the image
quality).

Thank you!
