To me the head looks like a helmet that fits snuggly at the elytra. I have learned since the original post that these beetles have been eating the rodent bait out of traps. Exercise caution prior to clicking on links or opening attachments. Angela - Dale here from the O'Keeffe. They appear to be tiny - like 5mm long, is that correct? All solid, one color? The elytra (outer wings) appear ridged along the axis of the beetle and the pronoun or plate over the thorax is kind of angular near the head? The first pic is a dead specimen and the second not so dead but less cooperative. Any help is appreciated.
