Dear Jill, Indeed, this is one of the parasitic wasps (family Ichneumonidae). I have encountered various species during pest control inspections in food production facilities, as they parasitize other insects such as stored-product pests like the flour / indianmeal moth and biscuit beetle larvae. But some also parasitize on wood damaging insects like furniture beetles. They usually have a specific host organism that they parasitize.
Based on the photo, I find it difficult to identify the specimen down to species level. However, if you are able to take a very sharp, high-quality photo, people here might be able to help with the identification. Otherwise, it would need to be determined by an entomologist in order to establish which host organism this species parasitizes. Best of luck.
