I'd be interested in information and references concerning the comment
below - does the presence of pheromone traps lead to a potential
increase in insect populations, in a storage area that is fairly well
separated from the outside world?

Pheromone traps should never be used unless you intentionally want to
increase your insect population.

Baited traps have the ability to pull from the outside. Should you touch
the traps pheromone is not good for you.
