Hi everyone

This email is with reference to the email received below.

I am working at Iziko South African Museum in Cape Town, South Africa. I did not implement the IPM (my predecessor has already done that ), but was tasked to continue with this process. She has left me with a good workable plan, which we can easily afford.  For example I use non poisonous stick traps to monitor the activities of pest insects and fumigate our collection areas at least once a month. I know all insect groups and can easily identify them, however I do feel that there is still a lot to be learnt as IPM is still very much unfolding.

My experience of the IPM is that museum staff does not have much knowledge or experience in it.  And due to the lack of knowledge often dont care much less.

Regards

Subject: [pestlist] IPM in emerging economies

I’m currently researching how museums in the third world or emerging economies such as Brazil, India, and other areas such as Africa, implement IPM, or if in fact if they are unable to implement it due to lack of funding?   Does anyone have any resources or experiences they could share?

Thanks
