The reason I implied that I didn't know why it was was because I didn't know why it was! It doesn't tell me that I must register and login to do those things - it just tells me I cannot do them. That's quite a unwelcoming user interface IMO: "go away, kid". I'd forgotten about the problems signing up (I have trouble reading some of those distorted text images). I've just tried again.
