I am not for sure if I am understanding the text colour question
correctly or not (I just subscribed to the mailing list a couple of days
ago), but I think that you are wanting to change the default colours
defined in /etc/profile. If you make changes to this file, it will
change it for all users. I have not tested this, but usually the system
sets up shell by looking at your .bashrc file. Mine is currently
pointing to /etc/profile.
If I am going in the wrong direction, let me know. I am running on
Knoppix 5.1.0 via a USB flash drive so things might be a little
different on Fedora. If I am heading in the right direction and you are
concerned about making the changes, let me know what you are trying to
do along with sending me a copy of your /etc/profile and I can make the
updates on my end and test it on my laptop to see if it all works.

Hi regarding the text colour no, thats as far as I got. Some other
good news is I managed to get my Fedora laptop on my wireless lan
using MADWIFI and a Netgear WG11T PCMCIA card, and of course a few
printouts of howtos from the net, I had to ditch teh Belkin card as I
was using ndiswrapper but it kept complaining about wanting a firmware
file.. looked a bit too complicated for a noob like me, I learned from
a friend that the 108mbps Netgear cards use the Atheros chipset which
work well with MadWiFi, so far so good......
Cheers for the welcome, i'd liek to try and get to one of the meetings
if I can just to meet everyone and find out more about linux!
I realised that it is going to be difficult if nigh on impossible to
fully migrate from windows to linux unless I am prepared to ditch a
lot of useful software, But then I guess as I get more competent with
linux I will find a way (WINE??) to run some of the win32 apps on
linux.
Thanks again

As I have not been around much lately (due to work and personal
reasons), I was wondering what is happening in regards to the
March PLUG
meeting. Not seen any e-mails about the meeting. Anybody have any
thoughts as to what will be covered and if there will be a meeting
this
month?

The meeting is scheduled for 7.30pm on Tuesday 27th March at the rugby
club.
I have not seen any suggestions for topics, I know that Ed wanted to
look at Compiz on Ubuntu.
I think that one of the main topics needs to be the distinct lack of
activity within PLUG and on the mailing list in recent times!
There is also the new web site design to finish off from a content
point
of view.
Hope to see you on Tuesday.

Hopefully, I should be there. The last time that I was at the Rugby
club, I had to leave early (courtesy of the wife)! But anyways, I'll
sort things out this time - I'll just turn off the mobile phone! :)
The Ubuntu topic could be discussed. Question is - what version of
Ubuntu is to be used? I've got several versions already downloaded.
I've also have the latest RC of Mepis - which includes Beryl & nVIDIA
drivers (not the gpl version) within the distro itself.

I think he's on Dapper (Ed, jump in anytime if I've got this wrong) as
am I on my desktop. It's something I have just not got round to at
the
moment so wouldn't mind a look myself if someone knows how to set
it up.

The latest beta of Ubuntu Fiesty Fawn is nice - I'm running it on my
home desktop. It also integrates Beryl really nicely (it's not in the
default install but it's a 1- or 2-click upgrade).

How friendly are we with the rugby club? Do they have satellite
and TV
we'd be able to get access to?
I have just got a Linux-based media centre box, which it might be
fun to
play with. It has twin satellite decoders on it (ie it plugs directly
into the satellite cable, not into the Sky box). So far I've spent
very
little time with it but it might be fun to experiment with it.

Did you get any further with this?
I've just realised that you've come here and introduced yourself
and had
no response from anyone, which isn't very friendly at all!
Unfortunately
I don't know the answer to your questions otherwise I'd have
chipped in
earlier, but I thought someone should at least say hello to you!
You are very welcome here, of-course, even if it does go silent from
time to time.
