Hi all, I used to use ProFTP then wanted the security of sftp. So I removed ProFTP and just use the sftp facilities SSH provides (by default think). I'm not using linux on the desktop though, just on a server, I still have to use windows on my desktop machine so I use directory opus on windows as my SFTP client which allows you to connect to my server over SSH. I thought it'd be complex to setup but I didnt really have to do anything on the server side as SSH provides the capability as standard.

Rgds,

Dave

Does anyone know how I can change the configuration of ProFTP so that
it's using SSH connections to the ftp server (I'm assuming that's all
that is required)? Or, do I have to ditch ProFTP and use an alternative
FTP Server?

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm sure ProFTP can do it, although I've never done it myself.

I believe you need mod_tls, and a Google for "ProFTPd mod_tls" threw
this up:
    http://www.castaglia.org/proftpd/doc/contrib/ProFTPD-mini-HOWTO-TLS.html

I also found the following in German:
    http://www.proftpd.de/HowTo-SFTP-TLS-verschluesse.55.0.html
.. which didn't look too hard to follow after a Google translate:
    http://tinyurl.com/34nza2
.. but then I only skimmed through it.
