Stuart, First things first, what type of wireless card/dongle is it, and do you know what chipset it has? It maybe that the wirless adapter isn't setup (and may require some jiggery pokery) SUSE as with most modern distributions has NetworkManager by default, it should be on the bottom right with an image of a computer or similar. If you right click the NetworkManager applet you will have the option to switch to wireless if it is available. To set up networking in SUSE open Computer > Control Centre > YaST (enter credentials) > Network Devices > Network Card. It may tell you here what type of wirless adapter you have here if you aren't sure. If it doesn't see it here then you have a lot of work ahead of you. Hope this helps a little.
