Thanks, I just found a how-to the told me about wpa-supplicant but I did not know about wpa-supplicant-GUI, that sounds like it could be easier to work with - will have a play and post back my endeavours.
PS Not sure If I can make the meeting again this month / tomorrow, I might be getting dragged off to a family friends...guess why....yup... to fix their computer!!
