Automatix2 uses v1.04 - I think or it may be using v1.03. You can
download both versions from the VMWare website. If I'm not mistaken, it
downloads the .tar.gz binary and auto answers the questions for you. So
in theory, it should just be a case of re-running the install and
un-installing VMWare Server.

Ben,

Your right, but hopefully you have no newer version. In that case he let
stay the older files i think.
And how can you fix the trouble with older files, is there program that
can help?? I now that RPM and ohter packages can install and uninstall
but if you use (.tar.gz) you need a good memory or database that's up to
date (locate).

Kind regards
Gosse

Try downloading the software from VMWare - the Binary (.tar.gz).
Extract the package, go into the VMWare directory and then run the
install to remove it (I think this is how it's done). Let me know how
you get on.

Oh damn it this is going to bug the hell out of me, I had this
exact same problem with VMWare and automatix and I solved it in the end,
I think I had to basically delete all the files and folders relating to
VMWare, I cant really remember now.

To find out, go to your Terminal 'sudo' and then 'locate
VMWare' when he find the location take a look.

I have used Automatix2 to install VMWARE Server
on my computer (Ubuntu Feisty) and a newer version of the VMWare Server
was released. I used Automatix2 to uninstall VMWare Server but when I
try to reinstall it I keep getting a message that suggests there is
already a version of VMWare Server installed which needs to be removed.
How do I sort that out?
