agreed. I was thinking if classroom 1 had a class on subject A then the same kids had their next subject A class in classroom 2 then the cacheing on classroom 1's server would be non-helpful, whereas a common cache on the internet feed would be pre-loaded.
If there's a lot of commonality of materials then local mirroring or hosting might be appropriate.
Having sat watching a cache server at work I wasn't over impressed, it was good for feeding the logos off BBC, Google, etc web sites but with a diverse set of uses the common material was a bit limited.
Might be better where a core curriculum drives a significant part of the activity.
