My initial thoughts were that the thin clients would attach to the slave server
via a mini 8 port switch (5 clients per classroom) and the second network card
in the server would connect to the school network and hence provide access to
master server and internet. Two of the main issues that arose when first
considering thin client soultions were sound and usb connectivity and despite
reading some literature I am keen to hear about possibilities!
The new server has arrived today so I will get Edubuntu installed tomorrow
lunchtime and hopefully the pilot project can be tested on Friday (no school
Thursday NUT strike!!!)

for the "internet access" will you use a router to keep the high volume
LAN traffic within the classroom and only route internet traffic onto
whatever system you have providing the external connectivity ?
One issue that has popped up on other thin client installations is the
ability for teachers or pupils to plug in a USB stick to take away /
bring in work eg from home. Have you considered that aspect ?
Got the new server yet ?
