this is usually a definition problem - the technology quotes the raw 
symbol rate over the physical media but the consumer is interested in 
useful data transfer rates.

802.11n wireless kit in 300M mode will transfer less data than 100M 
wired ethernet even over 1m.

Advertising copy is generally written by people with literally no 
understanding of the technology (I know one and he's proud of his 
ignorance !).

Ethernet over power does have emission issues which may cause conflict 
with other users of radio spectrum.
