Hello everyone,

I have noticed that our forum is really quiet in recent weeks and so I
decided to post a question.

I'm currently going through a phase of learning about Windows Server and
its usage (in fact its the last day of my Windows Server 2016 - AD course).
We all know that Linux is much better, quicker, safer etc.. and there is
nothing to argue about, but...

Can anyone enlighten me how can a Linux server become a core for LAN
(become an AD controller, single point login, user folder hosting space).

It is all good to use a Linux OS as a desktop but there must be an option
to actually put all those great features to use. Some time ago we've
invited to look at the data center near Wisbech, surly some of the
infrastructure was running Linux or was it?

At work we have just purchased two new Dell PowerEdge Servers and I will
have opportunity to try to convince my bosses that it might be a good idea
to give Linux a go. Not only due to price difference with the well know
other OS but also really minimal requirement for downtime, and so on. The
thing is, I know how to install a Linux (let it be CentOS, Debian or
Ubuntu), join it to a active Windows domain, setup some shares, setup web
server. I have no idea how to reverse the situation and have Linux in the
center of the network.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated, including obese pdfs or boring URL's :)

cheers,
Bart
