On second thoughts - re Facebook - I just looked and there are a number of
non-geographical groups on there where help can be solicited, and they
appear to be successful and active. If PLUG is about sometimes being
sociable and available for some direct one-to-one help/support or just
chewing the cud then perhaps a static non-interactive FB page directing
newcomers in the Peterborough area to this list (or Slack or whatever it
evolves in to) would be enough use of Facebook. When I lived in Northampton
there was (is) a quite successful small group of similar minded folk who
meet in the Malt Shovel pub one day each month (first Thursday?). Not
necessarily all with loads of gadgets in tow, but for a chit-chat about
latest developments, ideas etc. So a regular pub meet 'might' work in
Peterborough - the advantage being if just two turn up it can be as useful
as if ten or twelve turn up.
