I am having difficulty getting an Epson V330 scanner to work in Mint Mate 19.2 when I had no problems running under 17,2.

PC has been changed from 32bit to 64 bit as well but should not be an issue. I was trying to install the Epson iscan driver without success and it was whilst trying to work from first principles that I found it was not being recognised as a usb device.

*lsusb* does not show the device despite being powered up and plugged in . *dmesg* does identify the scanner including model number etc. Finally *lshw* detects it but with the following details:

 *-usb:0 UNCLAIMED
                   description: Generic USB device
                   product: EPSON Perfection V33/V330
                   vendor: EPSON
                   physical id: 7
                   bus info: usb@1:7
                   version: 1.00
                   capabilities: usb-2.00
                   configuration: maxpower=2mA speed=480Mbit/s

I am now at the limits of my grasp of linux and the results of my internet searching . Can anybody suggest my next move?

Iain
