Many thanks Russell for this Tour de Force which captures a lot of
information and structures it in a form suitable to support a project
to suggest one or more candidate solutions to the requirements
expressed by Nigel. Thank you also for the appreciation.

I also agree with your second paragraph that this is the sort of task
that Group members can not only contribute to and learn from but also
coalesce around and develop a collaborative approach where the whole is
greater than the sum of the parts. Progress could be reported at the
monthly meetings and any issues addressed.

I just have one note of caution. The mailing list is publicly available
on the internet and is indexed by the various search engine bots. In
fact I have once had my own post quoted back to me in an online search.

Therefore some care is required in what we say and NVR may not
appreciate their requirements and activities being aired in public.

Also we are not privy to their internal discussions and our assumptions
could well be incorrect.

Here we are working with Nigel who is acting in a private capacity and
we may collectively come up with some ideas that shape and inform the
NVR solution or perhaps inform them on what not to do but we have no
formal connection with them.

In this case I believe NVR would have preferred we had not mentioned
them in this particular context.

This is just one of the many reasons I believe the mailing list is an
unsuitable vehicle for solving anything more complex than the simplest
of problems.

I am putting together the notes from the meeting at the moment and they
will include the fact that we recognised we needed a better vehicle for
our collaborative activity and I took an action to look at Discord for
this role. This is my next task after publishing the meeting notes.

So, thanks again Russell for your great brain download. I have quite a
number of comments and suggestions as I am sure do others but I would
be grateful for a little patience while I report back to the group my
findings and we confirm a suitable collaboration platform, be it
Discord or something else. We only have to decide once and it should
take no more than a few days.

Perhaps Mark could consult the Lugmaster group to see what they
recommend and/or what other groups are using.

Regards,

Clive
