Many thanks to all of you that attended and special thanks to Clive for
making it happen.

There was a load of very positive and for me, exciting feedback and
suggestions within the range I was expecting.

For me this now becomes one idea with two main threads.
One: How to build a file server which will handle say 20 windoze 10 Pro
desktop clients all of whom save work to individual areas on the server.
The server should back up at least once in a 24 hour period.

The server should allow access to a ‘shared public’ account that anybody
given a generic ‘Any User’ password can access but not see ‘official users’
drives or directories.

Two: How to make the original client model i.e. open SUSE running samba
server servicing up to 20 ‘official’ windoze 10 pro clients plus an ‘Any
User’ area.
All backed up by Amanda backup ready for a symbology to move/back up to a
symbology NAS box

While I recognise that Thread one is the most interesting project for the
group and myself to be honest, I would like to progress Thread 2 to at
least the stage where Amanda makes vtape backups.

Stream one can grow to encompass whatever useful bells and whistles the
group can devise and agree on.

Thank you to everyone for being involved.

Finally, I am trying to change my group email address to. nigel...@me.com
A spare address I will keep for PLUG ‘stuff’.

Kind regards
Nigel
