2nd CALL FOR
PAPERS
Track
on Industrial Applications of Petri Nets (IAPN) in
the
2th European Modeling and Simulation
Symposium
http://www.i-m-cs.org/EMSS06
Co-located with I3M
2006
4 - 6 October,
2006
Barcelona, Spain
Objectives and Scope
The 2nd European Modeling
and Simulation Symposium will take place at
the Hospital de la Santa Creu i
de Sant Pau, which is part of the Unesco
World Heritage (http://whc.unesco.org/en/list/804/),
Sponsored by the
International Mediterranean and Latin American Council of
Simulation
(http://www.i-m-cs.org/)
This year the Conference will be co-located with I3M, to
create a
framework for supporting real networking and cooperation
among
scientist, technicians and users. One of our goals for this EMSS'06
is
to attract and motivate simulation users to present their
innovative
contributions where simulation techniques have been used to fill
the
gaps when solving new challenging problems.
Topics
Topics
of interest concern the use of simulation techniques to solve
challenging
problems, the use of simulation as decision support tool,
and advances in
R&D in the area. The Symposium will be divided into
twelve tracks
which are intended to cover the range of interests of
participants. In all
tracks, a special joint effort is expected and
encouraged in:
·
Cutting Edge projects: Application of simulation to new fields
· Integrating
approaches: coupling formal/theoretical
instruments
with simulation models
and results
· Cross-methodological research: comparing data from
real
phenomena with simulation
findings

TRACK ON INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS OF PETRI NETS
(IAPN)
Petri nets (PNs) constitute a well-known formal paradigm for the
modeling, analysis, simulation and control of discrete event dynamic systems.
Their double interpretation, graphic/mathematical, allows to develop efficiently
not only the modeling and simulation of complex concurrent discrete systems, as
production and logistic industrial systems, but also their performance analysis.
Much effort has been devoted to formal analysis techniques in PNs, which
represent a solid theoretical basis that can be applied to industrial
systems.
The Industrial Applications of Petri Nets track aims to gather and to
present original papers concerning the use of the variety of formalisms that
constitute PNs for the modeling, simulation and optimization in industrial
applications. We appreciate papers presenting the application of PNs researching
advances over industrial systems, as well as case studies of how PNs can be used
efficiently in industrial applications.
We welcome papers in areas concerning Petri nets and industrial
applications, related but not limited to the following
topics:
-
Petri
nets in industrial applications: manufacturing systems, factory automation,
transportation and logistic systems, supply chains,
-
Petri
nets for the modeling, analysis, simulation and control of industrial
systems.
-
Applications
of different Petri net formalisms: continuous and hybrid, colored, stochastic,
-
Practical
experience and industrial trial: Computer tools for Petri nets, case studies,

Submission
and Publication
The working language of the conference is English. All
submissions are
to be made electronically through the web. Only original
papers together
with Work-in-Progress and Industry practice written in
English will be
considered for revision (6 pages, double column, single
spacing). The
accepted papers will be published in the proceedings which will
be
available at the conference. Best papers will be considered
for
publishing in international journals.
Paper Acceptance
Each
accepted paper must be presented at the conference by one of the
authors. The
final manuscript must be accompanied by a registration form
and a
registration fee payment proof. All conference attendees,
including authors
and session
Chairpersons, must pay the conference registration fee, and their
travel
expenses.
