or PETSC_OPTIONS? Also - isn't '-on_error_attach_debugger' more suitable than '-start_in_debugger'? And one always need to list exta options with it. [like -debugger_nodes or lldb - as Matt indicated] A special hook in the test harness doesn't look useful to me. Satish
