It would save some time, but right now you can do
EXTRA_OPTIONS="-start_in_debugger lldb"
or PETSC_OPTIONS?
It's EXTRA_OPTIONS to denote append. There is OPTIONS=
which does override. (OPTIONS is not in any generated makefile
rules so I think it is OK as is).
Also - isn't '-on_error_attach_debugger' more suitable than
'-start_in_debugger'? And one always need to list exta options with
it. [like -debugger_nodes or lldb - as Matt indicated]
A special hook in the test harness doesn't look useful to me.
I'll let you and Barry sort it out, although I do like it at the shell
script level when you are doing debugging (and I am actually wanting
some generated shell script files in the subdirectories that will allow
me to copy and paste the individual commands for working at
the commandline more easily).
