Barry, see other thread about whether to use

  -install_name @rpath/libpetsc.so.3.08

versus the absolute path.  Using @rpath makes the library relocatable
without changing it (like on Linux), but requires either linking with
RPATH (-Wl,-rpath,/prefix/lib) or DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH (like on Linux).
What is your preference?

Yeah, pretty sure Saws issues are unrelated.
