Reply to myself again, this seems to have worked:
Checkout the tag 3.6.3 on PETSc and build
Checkout the tag 3.6.3 on SLEPc and build
Sorry for the noise
Dominic.

Replying to myself
I am not convinced what I am doing is going to work. I looked here:
http://www.mcs.anl.gov/petsc/petsc-as/download/index.html and there is
no mention of a 3.6.3 release despite there being a tag in the repo
with 3.6.3.
Can someone advise me which version of PETSc and SLEPc are compatible?
Should I try PETSc 3.6.4 and SLEPc 3.6.3 or 3.6.0?
Many thanks, Dominic.

Hi Karli,
Many thanks for the very swift reply :-) I did indeed look there and
it says
Stay tuned via the mailing list
Which is why I subscribed to the slepc mailing list but perhaps it
meant *this* mailing list rather than the slepc mailing list?
I can build 3.7 :-) I have just checked out the tag marked 3.6.3 and
am trying to build that. I will report back soon.
Once again thanks for responding
Dominic.

Hi Hong,
I too am having compatibility issues. I looked at the git repos.
v3.7 PETSc 3.7
v3.6.4 PETSc 3.6.4
v3.6.3 PETSc 3.6.3
v3.6.2 PETSc 3.6.2
v3.6.1 PETSc 3.6.1
and
v3.6.3 SLEPc 3.6.3
v3.6.2 SLEPc 3.6.2
v3.6.1 SLEPc 3.6.1
If I just checkout master on both repos, won't I get PETSc 3.7 and
SLEPc
3.6.3?
Should I checkout the tag for 3.6.3 on the PETSc repo?
Many thanks, Dominic
BTW I checked https://listas.upv.es/pipermail/slepc-announce/ for
announcements on new versions but nothing has been posted since
June 2015.
Marco:
You may use petsc-master and slepc-master.
