The problem was that (under the wrong circumstances), a packet of the
TCP handshake could be dropped, leading to retransmissions and delays
during the handshake, visible as delay of some seconds during connection
establishment. Once the connection was successfully established, however,
there was no effect on throughput.

The FreeBSD port is based on OpenBSD's 3.5 release. The above problem
was introduced in OpenBSD 3.5-current after the release. Hence, the
FreeBSD port never had the problem and didn't need a bugfix.
