You can store images (JPEGs, GIFs, BMPs) in blobs in the database.  To display them in a PB 7 app got easier since it can display BMPs, JPEGs and GIFs...  The trick is integrating your scanner into the app... the dirty way is to have the user just select the file location and have them create it outside the app...
