BELIEVE IT -- OR DON'T: WSJ: Google to merge Chrome OS into Android, unveil unified OS next year
http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2015/10/wsj-google-to-merge-chrome-os-into-android-unveil-unified-os-next-year/ The Wall Street Journal just released a doozy of a report: Android and Chrome are merging. The venerable paper says that a unified OS will be released in 2017, but Google will show off an early version next year. The report says the merge has been underway for "roughly two years," and refers to the end result as "Android," which makes it sounds like Android will play host to the merge and integrate parts of Chrome OS. The Journal says the unified OS will "run on PCs" and that its sources said that Chromebooks (which will now run Android) will be given a new name. - - - Like I said, believe it -- or don't. --Lauren-- Lauren Weinstein ([email protected]): http://www.vortex.com/lauren Founder: - Network Neutrality Squad: http://www.nnsquad.org - PRIVACY Forum: http://www.vortex.com/privacy-info Co-Founder: People For Internet Responsibility: http://www.pfir.org/pfir-info Member: ACM Committee on Computers and Public Policy Lauren's Blog: http://lauren.vortex.com Google+: http://google.com/+LaurenWeinstein Twitter: http://twitter.com/laurenweinstein Tel: +1 (818) 225-2800 / Skype: vortex.com _______________________________________________ pfir mailing list http://lists.pfir.org/mailman/listinfo/pfir
