Google's now solely relying on developers to provide accurate app data
collection information [for Android]
Apple has a similar system. A study of that system suggested that
developer provided information was frequently incorrect. I don't know
why Google has started hiding this information. Android users who
want to see the permission list PRIOR to downloading an app should
be able to do so. And frankly, this situation undermines Google's (good)
argument that permitting lots of outside app stores risks more malware. -L
