Maui tried to use dead mobile towers for fire warning, rather than
using the sirens

What happens when you depend on mobile and Internet for everything?
Disasters can happen. Reportedly Maui officials tried to use warnings
sent to mobile phones to warn of the fire, but by then many cell
towers were already dead. There's a siren system, but apparently they
didn't activate it because it's designated for tsunamis only.
Wonderful.
