Google is cracking down on its internal "Memegen" "message board"

So a few words of my own about this, having experienced and used
Memegen myself during periods when I was working inside Google. In my
view, Memegen represents a powerful feedback mechanism between
employees and execs. I was in fact enormously impressed when I first
saw it, having not anticipated such an open discussion internally. I
have been wondering to myself for quite some time now how long Google
execs would permit this freewheeling exchange of ideas to continue
given the various pressures the company is now under (much of which
being the result, in my opinion, of execs' own unforced errors). And
now it appears that the writing is on the wall -- the beginning of the
end perhaps -- for the usefulness of this wonderful internal tool.
Very sad to see. -L
