The speed didn't seem to be an issue, even on the VR3's 66 MHz processor.
The rootless mode would be really cool on the VR3. For example, if a
particularly cool PicoGUI app gets written (HTML viewer or spread sheet
program maybe), it could be used on the VR3 under X. Since it wouldn't
require a full shift to PicoGUI, more developers might be interested in it.

Anyway, I put up a few 'screenshots' of PicoGUI running under X on the VR3.

The first one is how I'd normally use it. The other two are more like your
rootless idea.
