I haven't tested the svgalib-related drivers in a while, so they may likely be broken. 
You should use the linux framebuffer driver if possible, but I understand some old 
video cards won't support it.

Try disabling the mouse support in svgalib and then loading the ps2mouse driver if you 
still need to use SVGAlib.
