I tried several of the git tools and basically they all do the same, some
at a different level or different representations. There are a few 
differences in features.

Smalltalk has a long history in good tools. Also for versioning (ENVY comes to 
mind).

I like that we can use git - but in the end I fear we somehow will come
to a point where it does not fit our needs or provide enough flexibility. That 
does 
not mean that we should not use it. But we should be prepared with own tools as 
well.
