Guille did a first attempt to add external resources to Monticello. 
interested people  should contact him (now he cannot work on it since he 
should finish his PhD).
While I think that moving to use git is important we should also 
consider that we should not put all the eggs in the same basket
and that the design decision of our solution should be able to not 
systematically rely on git.
