No, that's impossible, and if posible, it is not worth it. Migrating from an old format to a new one is extremelly complicated and innecessary. The easiest way to solve this is to [1.] take the correct version of Fuel, [2.] materialize the graph from the stream, [3.] load new version of Fuel, and [4.] seriaize it again. That the easiest, more secure, and more practical approach I can see.
Could those four steps be automated by a higher level monitor?  Seamless loading of old formats would be a great advantage.  Of course, that is volunteering more work for you when you're busy with core functionality.
